Looking for some advice

Hi everyone. This is the very first journal entry I have ever entered in anyone's journal aside from my own. I definitely would appreciate any information anyone can help me with my situation. Here it goes...

About 9 years ago I developed a cyst on one of my ovaries (the right one), it grew very fast and caused me to lose my ovary. Just recently I have discovered that I have a cyst on my remaining ovary. Surgery has been scheduled for April 23 with the same doctor I have had for the past 15 years. He has told me he will try very hard to remove the cyst without removing the ovary but cannot guarantee I will not lose this one too.

My husband and I are seeing a fertility specialist on the 19th about harvesting some of my eggs. Everything I have been reading tells me that this is not always very effective. It sounds as if freezing an embryo or a part of the ovary that can still produce eggs is the way to go. Seeing as how the surgery is about 3 weeks away I do not know that I will be able to harvest any eggs before the surgery. Again, from what I have read the process involves about 2 weeks of fertility medication before the eggs are removed surgically.

What I am wondering is if anyone knows the success rates of these options? I am curious about opinions or others experiences?

Thank you in advance for all of your help...
